My favorites of his old Japanese train photos.
The first is a one day trip to NYC for his 10th birthday.
Next comes a trip up and down the west coast while he is still 10.
When he was 11 during the summer of 2003 we took a trip on all the rail lines in and around Philadelphia and New York. However, this is not for the weak in technology! This pdf file is 168MB, so don't try it with a modem. It is only about 21 pages and so really shouldn't be so big. If anyone knows how to cut down the size of a pdf file I'd appreciate hearing about it. I think it is keeping the original quality of all the photos, which isn't necessary. Much later: we have discovered how to make a much smaller file! This version is only a little over a megabyte. The large version does have much higher quality pictures though.
In March 2005 Saul and his mom took a day trip to Philadelphia which is enough to make anyone dizzy.
There is another project of his that he abandoned when he was 11. It was a book about all the commuter lines in the country. It is incomplete but pretty neat. Again, it is 90MB so be careful. I'm trying to get a small version of this.
I never figured out how he talked me into this New Year's trip to California (2003-4). For some reason we don't understand, although this is 90 pages it is less than 3 MB so not that hard to download. This took him awhile to write. You'll see why when you look at the bibliography. We also have a big version of this trip for those who might want to print out the photos in high quality. It is about 230 MBs though.
In 2006 Saul and I took a train trip from Yuma Arizona through New Orleans and back to Baltimore. The small version is here. We also have a big version of this trip for those who might want to print out the photos in high quality. It is about 135 MBs though.
Saul was a little slow in producing this 2005 trip to Canada, but finished at the end of 2009.
