Textbook:   Real Analysis by N.L. Carothers.,Cambridge University Press,2000.
                  (Plan to cover Chapters 13-19,and selected topics to be updated along lectures.)

Grading Policy: homework  (50%),  midterm exams (20%) and a final (30%).  No make-ups on homework or exams.  See General Information and Syllabus for details and information on getting help.

• Homework will be assigned on each Monday and due on the next Monday at the beginning of class.
• Homework is an integrate part of learning. You are courage to discuss with others, but you must write up the solution on you own.
• Please turn in homework assignments in the following format: (i) Standard size notebook paper or submit to Canvas (TBD); Staple multiple pages,and put your name clearly on the top of the first page. (ii) Present organized proofs.
• No late homework will be accepted, including excused absence. Missing or late homework will be assigned a grade of 0. The lowest of the 11 grades will be dropped so as to allow for one missing assignment. Each homework will be graded with a total of 20 points, and the points above 10 of the dropped grade will be counted as extra points toward the homework total.
• Exams are closed book,closed notes. Midterm: in class on Tuesday 3/13 (or 15) .  Final: TBD. No make-up exams.

• The Directed Reading Programme is an effort,run by graduate students in our department,designed to allow undergraduate students to experience mathematics beyond the standard curriculum and to expose them to what doing and learning mathematics might feel like. To that end the programme pairs undergraduate students with graduate student mentors for one-on-one weekly meetings. The programme culminates in short presentations given by the undergraduates at an end-of-semester party open to all. Moreover,students can earn 1 mathematics credit by successfully completing the programme.
