Linear Algebra, 110.201, Spring 2004, W. Stephen Wilson

Problem Set Number 6, Due Thurs-Fri Mar 4-5.

These problems can be discussed in groups but must be handed in by each student. Keep in mind my warnings about how to learn in the Syllabus.

As discussed in class. If there is a weather closing for school that cancels a class then do the appropriate reading from the syllabus on your own and we will proceed in the next class as if we didn't miss anything.

This set is due at the beginning of section. There will be a quiz in section on this material.

The reading assignment is sections 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3.

The class did extremely well on the first exam. Things are about to get more abstract and this frequently causes problems even for students who do well with concrete Euclidean examples. In particular, last semester I saw students who scored near the top on the first exam score near the bottom on the second exam. The lesson to learn from this is that just because you learned the first stuff doesn't mean that you'll easily learn this new stuff. Work lots of problems.
