Linear Algebra, 110.201, Fall 2003, W. Stephen Wilson

Problem Set Number 6, Due Oct 17.

Recall we have Monday, Oct 13 off, i.e. no class.

These problems can be discussed in groups but must be handed in by each student. Keep in mind my warnings about how to learn in the Syllabus.

This set is due at the beginning of section on Friday, Oct 17. There will be a quiz in section on this material (and any previous material).

The reading assignment is Section 4.1 and Section 4.2.

The class did extremely well on the first exam. Things are about to get more abstract and this frequently causes problems even for students who do well with concrete Euclidean examples. Fortunately, we don't have a lot of material this week so you can work lots of elementary (but abstract) problems. The problems this week give lots of practice on the sort of things you can find on last semester's final. Work all these problems and learn this stuff!

Problems:

Section 4.1:

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 16, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 34,

Section 4.2:

2, 6, 8, 12, 14, 16, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 34
