Ashwin Iyengar

Hi! My name is Ashwin and I am a J. J. Sylvester Assistant Professor (3 year postdoc) in the Johns Hopkins University mathematics department. This semester I am teaching Algebraic Number Theory II.

I am interested in the deformation theory of Galois representations, eigenvarieties, Iwasawa theory and the $p$-adic Langlands program.

Previously, I was a Ph.D student at the London School of Geometry and Number Theory supervised by James Newton and Toby Gee, a master's student at Paris 13, and before that I was an undergraduate at UC Berkeley.

I strongly believe in Federico Ardila-Mantilla's axioms:

See the links in the above menu for publications, seminars that I've organized, notes I've taken, etc.

Here is an article I helped write for Sky news about the catastrophic GCSE and A-level COVID grading scheme in the U.K. before it was reversed.

I was a cofounder of London Maths Outreach, which is a program offering weekly meetings for school students (Years 10-13) from the London area in which students can explore interesting mathematics beyond the standard curriculum. I developed an online course on Logic Gates in Spring 2020.

Here is the debut album from the band I used to drum for in college.
