Evolution Email

To use evolution email, click the icon on the taskbar on desktop, or type evolution from the command line.

When it first starts, it will go through several setup steps. Something you may want to know during these steps:

For incoming mail, choose Standard Unix mbox Spool or Directroy".
Note: choose "Local Delivery" only if you use Evolution mail as your only mail reader. Not recommended.
For "receiving Options", check "automatically check for new mail every 10 minutes".
For outgoing mail choose Sendmail

If you want to change the setting after initial setup, click tools->settings, highlight your email account and choose Edit.

To import your old mail folder, click File->Import. Evolution email can import Netscape or Pine mail files. If you previous mail folders are not in places like ~/mail (mail folders for Pine), copy them to ~/mail then import. Evolution put all local folders in ~/evolution/local. To view local folders, click View->folder bar.

If you have big mail folders, Evolution mail may take some time to start and exit.
